  • Systems solutions

1. Onboarding Programs

Do your new staff begin by feeling they have come to the wrong place? If so, your onboarding process may need some help!

Onboarding vs Orientation: What is the difference?

  • Often, people use the term ‘onboarding’ when they really mean ‘orientation’. The terms are used interchangeably, but onboarding is a completely different process. Orientation can be the beginning of onboarding.
  • Orientation (or induction) lasts only a few days, sometimes only half a day, and begins when the employee arrives on site. In contrast, a strategic onboarding process should provide iterative value from three months to a year.
  • Onboarding is a strategic process that focusses on the new employee’s experience to help integrate them into the role, company culture and vision.

For projects, good onboarding is essential to effective operation. Why?
An effective onboading program:

  • Ensures employees are provided with information and support allowing them to feel integrated, more quickly.
  • Enables employee’s to become competent in their roles more quickly, reducing the extent of non-productivity.
  • Helps set employee expectations from the outset as well as aligning their activities and motivations with the corporate strategy, vision and culture.
  • Eliminates paperwork and administrative costs by using some form of automation.

Paradigma Solutions has experience in working with organisations and their projects to achieve effective onboarding solutions. We are able to automate these solutions if this is required, as well. Contact us here for more information.

2. Performance Management for Projects

A Performance Management Framework provides for outcome measurement for projects, teams and individuals.

A project’s Performance Management Framework focuses on the measurement (outcomes) of:

  • projects (as a whole)
  • individual projects
  • project managers
  • individual project staff
  • Stakeholders (eg. project owners)

The Performance Management Framework typically ties in closely with the Project Management Framework, and allows performance to be reported and evaluated at multiple levels.

It is also important that such a framework ties in with the operational business unit that staff come from, so that any exemplary performance is recorded in their ‘normal’ job performance appraisal system.

3. Development & Training Solutions

Paradigma Solutions works with you to develop and implement a training program that is not only practical and meets the needs of your staff and contractors, but enables you to fulfil the retention requirements for your project.

When we work with you in this area, we can:

  • Develop a training program which includes 3rd party and internal courses
  • Source 3rd party training which is relevant to your needs
  • Assist you to develop your in-house programs, using adult learning principles
  • Work with you to train your own staff to become facilitators of their own subject-matter areas and to deliver training
  • Develop processes / mechanisms to manage ongoing training

As a component of development, we also deliver programs through our training division, which include:

  • Leadership Development Programs tailored to suit your environment and circumstance
  • High Performance Team Development Programs
  • And a range of other more tailored programs to suit different needs of the project and its staff

4. Project Management Support and Advisory: Project Management Framework

The Project Management Framework is a Roadmap for how an Organisation conducts its Projects.

A Project Management Framework can be likened to a roadmap of project management and is a critical component of the overall Project Governance Framework.

What is it? It describes the detail of how projects are conducted in your organisation and typically includes the following elements to be used by Project Managers and their teams:

  • standard systems, processes and procedures
  • gateway and reporting mechanisms
  • stakeholder engagement mechanisms / guidelines

You may want to consider how you structure your organisation to run your projects at as you develop your PM framework. Questions you will ask include:

  • Who do your Project Managers report to?
  • Do you want to have a PMO in your organisation?
  • Who manages the PMO?
  • Who controls the budget for the projects and the PMO?

Contact us here if you want to discuss a standardised approach for running projects and which organisation structure suits you best.

5. Systems that support your projects

We are able to provide a range of systems for your project to help automate processes in the areas of:

  • Orientation and Onboarding
  • Managing graduate, mentor and other programs
  • Training tracking and management – managing of venues, trainers, materials, attendance
  • Delivery of training material vie eLearning (your own material)
  • Project management template systems, eg common templates
  • Document Management Systems, and
  • Integration between these and any others systems which need to work together.
